Shadow Heroes offers extension workshops tailor-made for the specifications of each school. These are designed for any age-group and language, to build or enhance translation skills in a specific language.
At UCS Shadow Heroes ran two enrichment classes. The first was for a Spanish AS Level class where we explored the literary technique of magical realism in Miguel Ángel Asturias's El Señor Presidente. Students translated a tricky extract from the original Spanish and then discussed how effective the same passage had been translated for the screen in the film adaptation.
The second enrichment class was for a French GCSE class where students translated an extract from Albert Camus's L'Étranger and analysed how well the essence of the famous shooting scene had been translated into The Cure's well-known song Killing an Arab.
